Ah, the sound of raindrops dancing in the air, trickling down and making their way to the Earth. Have you taken a moment to listen to this sound? I mean, not just hearing it, but listening to this beautiful song and dance of nature?
This, my friends, is the magical tune that I woke up to this morning. Cracking open a window, the atmosphere felt cool, and the forecast predicted continuous rainfall until Friday. What a gift!
Rain is one of my many favorite things! I felt very excited for it to help clear the air, water my lawn, and for what it represents on a deeper level!
The Earth element of water is said to represent creativity, emotion, and intuition! As I woke up, I also felt this charged creation energy – meaning anything is possible today!
I could work on continuing to unpack and create in my zen room, re-organize my home office, and perhaps paint a room that I’ve been wanting to for quite some time!
More than that, I felt strongly that the presence of heavy rain outside indicated that it was wise for me to carve out some time to go within.
So without further ado, I rolled out my yoga mat, chose my Yoga with Adriene video as a guide, and hit the play button on a short gentle morning yoga practice.
Started out with a gentle cat-cow pose (Bitilasana Marjaryasana) and I immediately could feel where I needed to give a little TLC. My neck and upper back on the right side felt a bit tense as well as my lower back on the left.
In puppy posture (Uttana Shishosana) however, I felt a nice relief in my shoulders. The stickiness I felt melted away while I breathed into it.
Keeping it in mind to be gentle with myself today, I pedaled-out downward-facing dog (Adho Mukha Shvanasana) – waking up the deeper muscles and tissues in the backs of my legs. This felt so nice!
I also took the liberty to follow my inner guidance and veer off the video to do a little extra movement with downward dog. Extending my right arm up to the sky, sending my gaze up to my right hand for a few breaths, and bringing everything back down to the Earth. Following this action with my left side as well.
With the forward fold (Uttanasana), I could again feel that my neck and areas of my back were tense – needing tlc. Breathing in, I directed my breath with lots of love to those areas and breathed out the tension with gratitude.
In addition to the last moves on the video, I felt the need to give my neck a bit more TLC with neck-rolls. And I’m so glad I did – it was needed!
Gently drawing saucers with my nose, I could feel where the area in my neck was in need of some love and how far it extended. Taking the time and practicing yoga, that in itself is an act in self-love.
Plus, by doing this check-in with my body, I can see where healing may be needed. My neck area specifically – our necks represent speaking our truth, channeling our creativity as well as our ability to be flexible (according to my trusty Louise Hay book that I highly recommend!).
For me, I understand that the stagnant energy in my neck manifested on my right side – which can pertain to concerns of the future. I also know that as everything is connected within the body, I have a feeling that I’ll find what needs healing (and then some) by going within.
While I had those other ideas this morning of getting my in-home projects completed today, as I write this now, I feel strongly that my priority is to continue checking within and find my inner-balance. I’ll do this through the means of meditation, muscle testing and consulting with my heart.

This is a great example of the phrase, “as within so without, as above so below”. My interpretation of this is that what we think and how we feel in our inner world can manifest and mirror what we experience in our outer world.
The tension in my muscles that I experienced this morning is connected to an emotional feeling that is needing to be addressed.
Through the practice of yoga, I was able to receive this awareness quite quickly and begin to address it.
I’m so grateful that I have begun this yoga challenge journey to reconnect my mind, body and spirit! I have a feeling that once I work on the stagnant energies, all will fall into place as to where would be best for me to channel my creative energies next!
Thank you so much for being here with me! Much love to you!
