A beautiful day in the neighborhood to be reminded of how intelligent our bodies truly are. Our bodies communicate to us every moment – showing us on a physical level what we are experiencing and feeling subconsciously.

For example, having a physical experience or symptom (such as a headache, a stuffy nose, etc.) is our body’s way of getting our attention so we can see that something within us is out of balance.
We can then choose to listen to the message we’re receiving and take action to heal what is needed.
This morning I experienced discomfort in my mid to upper back and also felt a slight heavy energy in my heart space. I gave my body gratitude for letting me know that something was up. With my intention to open my awareness of what I was experiencing, I rolled out my yoga mat and stepped aboard.
Feeling the need to be closer to the Earth, I knelt down and gently began tracing circles with my nose. Reaching high to the sky for a yummy stretch, I leaned forward to land in a child’s pose variation with my arms extended forward. Staying in child’s pose for a few breath cycles, I gently rocked my forehead left to right gently massaging by brow chakra.
Feeling satisfied, I rose back up to all fours and journeyed to extended cat-cow. Waking up my hips, shoulders and everything in between. After a few yummy breaths and cycles in both directions, I made my way back to tabletop position.
Maintaining alignment and stability, I extended my right leg behind me (in somewhat of a partial plank) and guided my knee between my hands – arriving in a variation of king pigeon pose (Eka Pada Rajakapotasana). Resting my forehead on the Earth, I welcomed lots of love in and sent lots of love out with the ebb and flow of my breath.
In this pose, I felt the energy shift and the heaviness that I had felt earlier began to dissipate. Feeling lighter with each breath I took. Completing both sides, I made my way back to a seated position and gently rolled onto my back for bridge pose (Setu Bandha Sarvāṅgāsana).
I shimmied my shoulders under my heart space, further opening my heart to the sky. With an inhale, I lifted my pelvis followed by each sequence of my torso, neck, and chin to meet the cosmos. Using my exhale to gently come back down to the Earth, I gave gratitude to each vertebrae in my back and every system in my body that supports me at all times.

In śavāsana, I felt more of the heavy energy shift and leave. It was also here that I realized where the discomfort was stemming from.
I had a conversation a few days earlier with one of my family members and I realized that something from that conversation didn’t sit well with me.
While I initially thought I felt at peace with what unfolded from our conversation, I now understood there was another aspect that I needed to address. This aspect was shown to me by my body through the discomfort I felt in my back and heart space.
I’m so grateful for this awareness as well as for the message from my body of the disharmony within. With this awareness, I can further tap into the root cause of the imbalance that I’m feeling and work on releasing it by adjusting my perspective. Bringing myself back into alignment on all levels.
As I write this now, I feel truly amazed by how intelligent our bodies are! Our bodies physically communicate to us what’s going on with our emotional state and within our subconscious! How incredible is that?!
And if we take a moment to listen to what’s being shared with us, we can receive our answer in how to address and heal what is needed! To me, this is so powerful and I’m honored to have had this experience!
Thank you for being here with me! Until next time, dear friends, peace be with you. Namaste.
